Senior Medical Scientist - Chemistry - Dublin North. Our client seeks an experienced Senior Medical Chemist to join them in providing responsibility for Laboratory Chemist services that meet the needs of patients and clinicians alike. This is a senior role, requiring in depth knowledge of the Clinical Chemistry environment. What you'll do: Provide an efficient service to users ensuring that all standards are reached and that policies and procedures are followed. Participate in developing and leading the introduction of new ideas, methods, evaluating equipment, reagents and consumables according to Hospital policy. Lead and co-ordinate scientific staff and/or support staff within the Laboratory. Ensure that the team is allocated according to patient needs and applying maximum delegation compatible with safety. Lead and co-ordinate scientific and support staff in Clinical Chemistry in collaboration with the Laboratory manager and the Consultant Chemical Pathologist and multi-disciplinary senior medical scientist. Participate in implementing a quality management programme which is patient-centred and which measures and audits performance and client satisfaction. Supervise, delegate and participate as required in the registration, custody and stock level of the laboratory reagents and other consumables. Be aware of and meet the ethical considerations detailed in ISO 15189. In accordance with the Pathology Department’s Quality Management System receive and record details concerning risks, mishaps, complaints and defects in supplies and equipment, investigate the circumstances with the appropriate team members, take the necessary corrective action and report the findings as required. Educating and training staff. Direct the writing, maintaining and revising of Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and Guidelines. Participate in Hospital Committees. Ensure appropriate compliance with International and National guidelines and standards. Participate in ensuring the implementation of quality standards and ensuring a quality service is provided at all times. Provide report/s on relevant areas of the clinical chemistry laboratory as required e.g. annual management review, quality assurance meetings. Participate in the Hospital Performance Review and Development System. Perform tasks and duties in a manner that ensures compliance with relevant regulations including the Blood Directive 2002/98/EC and the Medical Devices Directives 93/42/EC and 98/79/EC, where applicable. Participate in ensuring that effective safety procedures are in place to comply with health and safety regulations, ensuring safe working practices and a safe working environment. Assist and co-operate with the Pathology Management Team in developing procedures to be followed in preventing and managing accidents occurring in the Laboratory area. Provide appropriate statistical and management information. Participate with the Laboratory Manager in the preparation of financial reports, business cases and cost-benefit analysis of proposed investments in the pathology department. What you'll need : A post graduate degree , approved by the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM. MSc in Biomedical Science, Fellowship in Medical Laboratory Sciences or similar. Minimum 4 years' post–graduate experience in a Clinical Chemistry Laboratory.
