Job Description

The Pre-Construction Assistant is responsible for the development and application of all road opening licence, traffic management design and project pack creation in a given geographical area.

Reporting directly to the BBCLG Lead preconstruction assistant as part of the Business Support Team, the Pre-Construction assistant will work closely with the Operations Scheduler, local QS, Preconstruction officer and Site Manager.

The Pre-Construction assistant will be responsible the development and design of traffic management plans to best fit the works based upon accurate information from the preconstruction officer. The preconstruction assistant will apply for the road opening licence and develop the construction pack for a given geographical area.

In addition they will build and maintain a positive relationship with local authorities and Gas Networks customer base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ø Development of road opening licence applications.
  • Ø The design of traffic management plans in agreement with local authorities.
  • Ø Negotiation of road opening licence conditions with local authorities.
  • Ø Ensure comunication around road opening licence requirements with site managers.
  • Ø Identify constraints and risks within projects to enable the production of an effective and accurate plan.
  • Ø To create comprehensive project delivery packs.
  • To identify opportunities of lean working.
Skills Required:

  • Ø Strong IT skills.
  • Ø Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Ø Appreciation of streetworks competancy inclusive of traffic management, reinstatement and purple book.
  • Ø Strong organisational skills essential.
