The Balfour Beatty CLG Joint Venture provides extensive experience in the construction and installation of gas network infrastructures. Role purpose: To work as directed by the Commercial Manager ensuring that all operations are carried out in a cost effective manner and maintain the highest standard of quality and safety. Key Accountabilities: Operationally responsible for maximising value and minimising future liabilities. Influence and advise operational staff on the commercial implications of operational decisions in order to achieve the project objectives. Key Responsibilities: Valuation of contract works carried out. Preparation of subcontractor measures validation. Ensuring commercial information feeds back into internal and client systems. Timely agreement of weekly cost and value reports. Record scheme and gang production and profitability. Provide an estimating service and/or assistance in the Estimating Service for additional and varied works. Support the procurement of sub-contractors in accordance with company procedures. Support the calulation of wages and sub-contract payments in accordance with procedure. Control and expedite payments from the client and maintain and keep up to date contract files. Ensure persons under your authority are made aware of their responsibilities. Maintain good relationships with site personnel and when visiting clients and public. Keep Commercial Manager informed with respect to contract correspondence and prepare draft response where appropriate. Support site staff in understanding the contract documents in order to satisfy the client’s requirements. Monitor progress against the contract programme. Agree weekly costs and values. Monitor the contract costs and values. Undertaking Interim and Final Valuations for works completed. Report on the achievement of performance targets for teams in line with the agreed programme. Skills Required: Degree level in quantity surveying or related discipline. Demonstrate the use of rates and schedules in a commercial environment. Knowledge of different forms of contracts.
