SUMMARY OF ROLE: Our Client, a major multinational logistics company and household brand name, is currently recruiting an IT Technical Support Engineer (Help Desk) for its Dublin operations. This is initially a 6 month contract position with the possibility of for career development and progression within the organisation. The purpose of this role is to provide IT Help Desk support to internal users. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. • To install software. • To configure user data and settings as required. • To maintain records of work including IT Asset management. • To implement and manage the IT Security standards within the environment. • To assist and expedite the diagnosis and resolution of incidents and requests assigned to the Desk-side Support group in line with agreed service levels. • Support project team for 500+ users across three business units and fifteen sites. • To ensure a strong customer service ethic and a commitment to ongoing service improvements. • To assist users by providing second line technical troubleshooting via telephone and/or on-site support within an agreed SLA for the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of computer hardware, operating systems, Network configuration and software applications desktops on the following operating systems;Win7;Win10. • To provide advice to users on systems, products and services, which are available to them. • Assists users in making more effective use of desktop systems, products and services. Makes initial diagnosis of any problems and advises known solutions where applicable. • For all products, services and systems within the area of responsibility, demonstrates, installs and commissions desktop systems and their routine upgrades. Provides information on updates, known errors, changes in availability, new facilities etc. • Image management for standard laptops, desktops, tablet devices and OS management tools (dbox. • Assistance in the local rollout and support of Information Security requirements. • Ability to deploy software/applications to clients using scripts, deployment tool (Altiris), or remote control of system. • Ability to support senior management and directors on desktop and connectivity issues. • Provides an effective interface between users and service providers, including documenting problems, progress checking, and ensuring all diagnostic information is provided for error resolution and incident analysis. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: • Strong Customer Service Orientation. • Demonstrates a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving. • Is able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication ability covering all routine activity and contacts. • Is able to absorb, rapidly, new technical information as required. • Within a limited time horizon, is able to plan, schedule and monitor own work competently. • Relevant infrastructure & network skillset to assist in project & build work as and when required. • Knowledge of PC and server infrastructure (W7/w10/WaaS. • Knowledge of management tools (Symantec Altiris. • Proficient administration skills in NT4 and Active Directory domains. • Proficient in Networking technology (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP. • Proficient in thin client setup and support (Citrix. • Proficient with PC and server data backup technology. • Proficient with imagining technology ie. GPWS Dbox. • Proficient knowledge of MS Outlook client setup. • Familiar with GSN or other ticketing tools. • Proficient knowledge of Operations Center processes and working practices, in particular DC Operations, Help Desk, and Change Mgmt. • Familiar with ServiceNow Service Desk. • Proficient in Programming/Scripting Languages (VB script, Java, Javascript, XML,DatabaseSQL) an advantage. • Aware of Corporate, Industry and Professional Standards (ITIL. • Uses Initiative. • Flexible approach to workload. EXPERIENCE. • 6 months plus experience working in a similar role within IT. • Third level qualification in IT Infrastructure/End user technologies desirable.
