Head Of BI - Dublin, Permanent. My client is a leading international media provider based in Dublin who are looking for a Head of Business Intelligence to lead a BI team. This role is both strategic and technical in nature and is a crucial component to the company's success. Job Purpose. Lead the BI team in the design and delivery of insightful and commercially astute reporting that supports the MD and senior executive team in making the right strategic and operational decisions. Drive local BI strategy based on establishing the right set of core metrics, transparent definitions, centralised reporting data, a rationalised BI tool set and efficient BI spend. Principle Responsibilities. Leadership of the BI Reporting function; setting vision and direction, motivating the teams and establishing the right standards and principles for delivery and engagement. Lead the development and implementation of a local BI reporting strategy that aligns with the UK BI function. Delivery of well-designed metrics and reporting solutions that are accurate, timely, innovative and support key strategic decision making. Delivery of weekly performance commentary to the MD and senior executives based on a thorough understanding of recent trends and performance drivers. Implement best in class information governance practices, and establish a core set of transparent metric definitions. Robust checking and validation processes and a zero tolerance approach to reporting errors. Effective management of stakeholder relationships to achieve BI objectives. Build a high-performing team culture focused on pace and quality of BI delivery, recruiting top talent into open vacancies, and developing current team members. Essential Knowledge, experience and skills. Proven experience running an industry leading reporting team in a large organisation. Expert at setting and driving medium to long term BI strategy, and selling this in to key stakeholders across an organisation. Expert in metric and output design, able to rapidly form a view on the right way to measure performance in operational functions and able to influence effectively to implement that view. Demonstrable experience of transforming a reporting function to create a step change in performance, delivery, accuracy and quality. Strong leadership skills, including the setting of vision and direction, establishing core principles for engagement and delivery, and the hiring of top talent and managing out of weak performers. Strong attention to detail and zero tolerance of reporting errors. Brilliant stakeholder management and relationship building skills. Adept at interacting with senior executives and adapting style to different audiences. Expert understanding of reporting best practice and new/evolving BI tools. Solution driven, innovative, pace-setting and focused on results. Well versed in company financials, comfortable discussing how operational performance is impacting financial performance across the P&L.
