Our client is looking for a strong Financial Control Manager to join their team. Excellent opportunity for someone looking for a new challenge! Purpose of the role To help ensure all monthly, quarterly & annual financial and tax reporting is processed accurately and on time; to ensure the efficient delivery of Group, Statutory & Regulatory reporting; including supporting as necessary work undertaken in the GFC/CoE and Europe Finance Hub. Aid with location reporting to Continental Europe and internal reporting for the location including location flash and cost reporting, and other ad hoc reporting as needed. Support Finance initiatives and projects as they arise. Provide all necessary support to the group CFO and other members of the Ireland Finance team. Undertake all necessary control activity to support the efficient operation of the Finance function. Ensure the company is in compliance with all of its internal risk requirements. Co-ordinate governance of offshored activities to ensure alignment to existing PLA’s. Key Responsibilities Month-end Reporting Provide financial input to the Global Finance Centre (GFC) for the posting of journals, including accruals, prepayments, revenue, expense schedules & fixed assets. Contribute to ensuring overall accuracy of accounting entries, ensuring that the GFC has all the necessary supporting information to produce accurate financial statements, prepared in line with required timescales for month-end close. Support review of overall financials. Aid process to ensure revenue sharing allocations and Intercompany recharges and recoveries are correctly recorded in the monthly accounts. Support the timely & accurate production of P&Ls including monthly flash & detailed reporting. Month-end Reconciliations Review of general ledger balances and reconciliations prepared by the GFC and other stakeholders, via the internal system or other relevant Group reconciliation system, including accruals, bank accounts, debtors. Work with the Global Finance Centre to resolve any un-reconciled or aged items, and to provide relevant commentary and exception reporting. Group Reporting Review Group reporting submissions prepared by the GFC, ensuring that submissions are an accurate reflection of the financial accounts. Contribute to ensure any changes in Group reporting requirements are implemented efficiently. Regulatory Reporting Work with GFC to ensure compilation of regulatory reporting data is prepared accurately and in line with required timelines and review of regulatory reports before they are submitted to the Central Bank of Ireland. Support process to complete detailed analysis & relevant commentary for the entity Board Reports as applicable, and ensure they are submitted accurately and on time. Ensure that all CSO & regulatory returns are submitted accurately and on time to the relevant regulatory bodies. Ensure accurate and timely response to Regulator queries. Keep up-to-date with changing regulatory requirements and help ensure any changes are implemented efficiently. Ensure HSBC Ireland meets the reporting requirements of European legislation as well as local requirements. Statutory Reporting and Taxation Work with the GFC to ensure that the Annual Statutory Financial Statements are prepared in accordance with the relevant account policies. Co-ordinate the annual external audit and Support the process to provide accurate and timely response to audit queries. Provide information to external auditors as required during annual audit, working with GFC for detailed schedule preparation. Contribute as required to help the GFC to ensure VAT and Corporation Tax returns and all other tax requirements prepared accurately and on time. Aid ongoing reviews of tax processes to minimise tax burden, working closely with the GFC Tax Team. Support as requested the completion of the tax computations for all required HSBC Ireland entities, liaising with our tax advisors to ensure full compliance where necessary. Cost Reporting Contribute to the preparation of controllable cost reporting for the location, highlighting key trends and issues. Support tracking of variances in costs including recharges and recoveries, highlighting key variances and issues to local business management. Help maintain cost control through the analysis and review of trends in expenses, ensuring accurate reporting & investigating any significant variances with the operational teams. General Provide support to CFO as required to meet the needs of the local ExCo and all relevant Finance teams (Continental Europe or business line as applicable. Flexibility to deal with Finance initiatives and projects as they arise and to provide ad hoc reports and analysis as necessary. Close interaction with local business to support local management requirements. Close interaction with GFC/CoE and Europe Finance Hub to ensure smooth running of all elements of financial accounting and reporting. Support ongoing reviews of GFC output and processes to ensure meet the requirements of the business. Respond to ad hoc finance requests as required, working with the GFC as necessary, to meet business requirements. Key Competencies There is a strong preference for experience in audit, control or risk management. Experience and track record of successful delivery in a financial control environment is desirable. Able to work in a pressurised environment, manage priorities effectively and see issues through to resolution. Strong academic and professional track record with a professional accounting qualification. Relevant post qualification experience would be an advantage. Knowledge of UK, Irish and IAS accounting standards. Advanced MS Office skills in particular Excel. Strategic and creative thinker with excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple work streams at the same time across different business lines. Proven experience in identifying and managing the risks, issues and dependencies related to complex projects. Knowledge of the securities industry and global banking infrastructure. Personal qualities of stability, maturity and authority and an ability to work with staff at all levels. Relationship management and networking skills. Team player and people motivator and track record in delivering to demanding timescales. Excellent 360 degree communication skills and interpersonal skills both verbally and in writing. Experience of Management and Financial Accounting.
