The Labour Court is a quasi-judicial statutory tribunal with responsibility for the investigation of industrial relations disputes and the provision of adjudication in matters of difference between workers and employers in relation to employment rights under the law. The Deputy Chairman will be responsible for managing a division of the Court and ensuring that they dispose of cases fairly, efficiently and within a predetermined timeframe. The Deputy Chairman’s primary duty is to hear and determine cases assigned to the Division over which he or she presides. The successful candidate will have: • A proven record of achievement at senior level that demonstrates the required leadership experience; • Experience which demonstrates the ability to manage efficiently within a target driven environment; • Extensive knowledge of industrial relations in Ireland and experience in the resolution or management of significant industrial disputes; • Extensive knowledge of employment legislation and experience of applying employment law in practice; • Good knowledge of the work, practice and procedures of the Court; • A good understanding of the general principles of European law and good knowledge of European social policy directives.
