Description

Great opportunity for a Technical Writer to join an exciting software development team in Galway city. You will work in an Agile development environment, and will develop technical online help, user documentation and troubleshooting information and assignments to meet the needs of users including customers, partners, and employees. You must be able interact with project managers, project team members, and subject matter experts as well as partners and internal customers in capturing, analysing and prioritising documentation requirements based on audience need and relevant use cases. Duties & Responsibilities include: Write, revise, maintain and edit documentation, including installation, configuration, user, API developer, and troubleshooting topics. Collaborate with product management, software engineers, test engineers, and other stakeholders to produce product documentation. Interact with developers and research available product information, such as design specifications and prototypes. Host meetings and interview local and remote subject matter experts. Host technical reviews of documentation with subject matter experts. Develop working knowledge of products. Conduct independent verification of technical features of products. Edit and revise documentation for content, readability, ease of use, and compliance with internal style standards. Skills, Experience & Education: 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent writing, editing and communication skills. Understanding of the writing process and information development. Single-sourcing and modular authoring experience. Highly organized and able to multi-task, set priorities, meet timelines and work with minimal supervision. Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. Experience with screen capture and graphics tools to create screenshots, illustrations and diagrams. Experience with topic-based authoring including reuse. Aptitude for technical concepts and the ability to learn complex topics quickly. Ability to document complex technical subjects so they are easily understood, including graphics to clarify complex topics. Ability to quickly identify use case and develop content for technical audiences, including users and administrators. Experience with Agile development methodologies preferred. Experience with MindTouch or another wiki-based documentation tool preferred. Familiar with HTML. Familiar with version control, such as GitHub/Git or SVN preferred.
