Applications are invited for the following post: Higher Executive Officer – Fitness to Practice (Hearings & Policy) Manager. This is a full time, permanent position, subject to successful completion of an 11 month probationary period. Reporting to the Head of Fitness to Practise and Legal Affairs, the Higher Executive Officer will provide support in relation to matters arising from the operation of Part 6 the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (as amended) and in particular the progression of complaints at Inquiry stage, following an opinion that there is cause to warrant further action, until conclusion. In addition to the progression of complaints in a timely fashion, the Fitness to Practise (Hearings & Policy) Manager will seek to conduct matters so as to ensure that natural justice and fair procedures are observed. He or She will instruct external legal advisers and may assist, as appropriate, in the drafting and review of Notices of Inquiry, pleadings, grounding emergency immediate suspension applications and sanction confirmation applications to the High Court. Civil Service Higher Executive Officer scale €47,552 to €59,887 (7 point scale & 2 long service increments). Please Note: Initial remuneration for this position will be at the first point of the scale. This rate will apply where the appointee is an existing civil or public servant appointed on or after 6th April 1995 or is newly recruited to the Public Service and is required to make a personal pension contribution.
