Equipment Development Technician -Dublin South. 2 YEAR FIXED TERM CNTRACT ROLE. DAY SHIFT (MON-FRI. You will beresponsible for the development of new and improved production equipment used throughout the plant, as well as upgrades & retrofits to existing processes. The development / retrofitting of such equipment requires the following: • Proof of Principle (POP) trials. • Vendor site visits. • Input to design reviews. • Attending acceptance trials. • Installation of new equipment. • Maintenance reviews of new equipment. • Adjustment and modification new equipment. • Supporting the validation team. • Supporting the quality team. • Creating and developing a knowledge directory that will contain all set-up guides, models, BOM, electrical & mechanical drawings, station specific process flow and development of spare parts list. • An in-depth knowledge of all current plant performance and production equipment, as well as the fabrication of new and replacement equipment. The Equipment Development Technician will also be involved in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives. This job covers both electrical /controls and mechanical aspects. Key Responsibilities: To deal / liaise with vendors, suppliers and local engineering shops. To continuously improve the production operations. This includes: • Fine-tuning production equipment to increase output. • Reducing downtime and reducing waste. • To maintain production lines at optimal performance. • To work to the highest engineering standards. To install, modify and maintain the full range of production equipment both new and older generation equipment. To assist in the complete validation of new and existing equipment including acceptance trials, debugging, supporting ramp up etc. To stay abreast of current environment and ensure current and historic learnings are catered for in new equipment design and set-up. To stay up to date with latest High-Volume Manufacturing technology and trends. To become involved in analysing customer complaints and internal quality issues and assist in drawing up improvement programmes for equipment to eliminate these defects being produced. To assist with the training of other technicians / engineers / operators as required to maintain appropriate recording and reporting systems on all engineering related matters (e.g. EWO reports, PD reports, MRF’s. Full utilisation of all current and new IT / processing systems. To fully participate in company-wide continuous improvement initiatives, working in teams as required and utilising appropriate quality tools as applicable. To maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping to ensure area, machines and equipment are maintained in a safe and clean condition. Correct and / or report unsafe conditions and other faults. Educational and experience requirements: Good knowledge of the Mechanical and Electronic Systems associated with high-volume manufacturing equipment and hold a third-level qualification in one of those disciplines or the National Craft Certificate together with additional specialised training and experience. Relevant Experience: Relevant industrial experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The ability to apply a scientific approach to problem solving, blending analytical and experimental skills to maximise productivity and yields. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
