Geo-environmental Engineer / Scientist – Mandarin Speaking. Waterford (with travel to Shanghai. €40,000 - €50,000 Plus Generous Benefits Package. Part of a leading international group, our client is a successful environmental solutions business that provides soil remediation services. They are now seeking a bilingual Geo-environmental Engineer / Scientist to join their new division focused on the Chinese market. This is an exciting opportunity for a Mandarin speaking investigator, consultant or contractor in the geo-environmental field to advance their career with an incredible organisation focused on repairing damage caused by soil pollution. As a Geo-environmental Engineer / Scientist, you will be using your technical expertise and hands-on soil remediation experience to resolve problems and issues associated with contaminated land to ensure our client’s newest venture in China is successful. With investor backing to commence operations in Shanghai, our client is poised to make a big impact on this newly emerging market. You will play a key role in supporting the supply chain and various contracts, providing synergy for our client’s solutions and the Chinese market. Specifically, your role will involve: - Appraising and reviewing site investigation data. - Assessing geology and hydrogeology. - Assessing the risks of contaminated land. - Scoping remediation works. - Using AUTOCAD and/or LSS and assessing earthworks volumes. - Writing reports. Interested? If so, you will need: - At least three years’ experience in site investigation, consultancy or contracting, ideally having spent some time working internationally. - Fluency in Mandarin, in addition to fluency in English. - The willingness to work towards chartership. - Strong skills in data analysis, geological logging, contaminated land assessment/risk assessment and written report writing. - Experience of appraising and reviewing site investigation data, assessing geology and hydrogeology, scoping remediation works and assessing earthworks volumes. - AutoCAD and/or LSS skills. - At a minimum, a BSC or higher (or equivalent) in a geo-environmental, geological or ground engineering subject. Fluency in Mandarin is essential. Some experience of the Chinese market OR experience of working with Chinese clients would be beneficial.
