Description

The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) is responsible for the identification of the assets of persons which derive or are suspected to derive from criminal activity and the taking of appropriate action under the law to deprive or to deny those persons of the benefit of such assets as may be appropriate. The Bureau Legal Officer shall report directly to the Chief Bureau Officer to assist the Bureau in the pursuit of its statutory objectives and functions. The Bureau Legal Officer shall oversee the management of assets under Receivership and will be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of financial and other records relating to Receiverships and other matters for the purpose of audit. The successful candidate for this role must be admitted and enrolled as a solicitor in the State or called to the Bar in the State and is likely to have practised as a solicitor or barrister for a minimum of 7 years. S/he will have a demonstrable ability to analyse and advise on a range of complex legal matters, including on criminal, commercial, international and receivership law. Knowledge and experience of Accountancy, as well as Constitutional, Taxation, and Social Welfare Law will also be desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgement and the ability to work under pressure at a senior level in a multi-agency organisation. This appointment will be made on a fixed term contract of 5 years.
