The Data Protection Commission (DPC) is the national independent authority with responsibility for upholding the individual’s right to data protection and ensuring that organisations comply with data protection law. The DPC has a leading international role in supervising the data processing activities in the European Union of many of the world’s leading technology companies who have their European headquarters in Ireland. The Data Protection Commission now has vacancies for Legal Researchers. The Legal Researcher is a middle managerial grade within the DPC reporting to an Assistant Commissioner. They will perform an important role in contributing to the work of the DPC, by carrying out legal research and analysis and providing legal and paralegal support across a broad range of the DPC’s activities. The Legal Researcher will be involved in unique and challenging   legal and regulatory work in a fast-paced and high-profile environment, dealing with novel and groundbreaking legal issues. Successful candidates will hold a qualification at minimum Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) in Law OR a recognised relevant professional legal qualification. They will also have experience in conducting in-depth legal research and analysis, strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail, and an ability to prioritise and manage tasks while working to tight deadlines. Candidates will also have an extensive and broad-ranging knowledge of Irish law and the Irish Legal System.
