The Department of Justice and Equality is responsible for public policy and administration in respect of justice; public safety; civil law; national security; equality and immigration issues. Reporting to the Deputy Secretary over Civil Justice and Equality, the Head of Governance is a top level management position in the Department of Justice and Equality. The Head of Governance will be responsible for the Civil Justice & Equality Governance function which provides oversight of the agencies and bodies under the aegis of the Civil Justice & Equality pillar of the Department. Working collaboratively, the function will support these bodies to perform effectively by ensuring that they have clear strategy, meet agreed standards of performance, transparency and governance, and manage their resources appropriately. The ideal candidate will have: • Excellent senior management and leadership experience in a multifunctional organisation of significant complexity and scale; • Extensive corporate governance experience; • The capacity to develop and implement a wide range of performance agreements tailored to the services of each organisation under the Department’s aegis; • A strong understanding of the policies and processes underpinning financial and human resource management in the Civil Service.
