The Department of Education and Skills plays a key role in Ireland’s long term economic, cultural and social development through the formulation and implementation of Government priorities in the area of education and training. As a member of the Management Board, the Head of Reform, Evaluation, Policy and Statistics will have responsibility for the Reform Programme, Data Governance, Statistics, Central Policy, and International Education sections. They will have responsibility for ensuring that the use of data, evidence and analysis activities underpin the strategic development, implementation and review of national education and training policies and that the strategic reform agenda of the Department is implemented in a co-ordinated and sequenced manner. The ideal candidate will have: • A proven track record as a leader and senior manager in a large and complex organisation either in the public or private sector; • Demonstrable strategic leadership and strong governance skills; and have signifcant experience of negotiating and delivering change through working with partner agencies or bodies; • Significant experience at a senior level in the use of research, evaluation and data in the analysis, formation and implementation of reform programmes in a complex and challenging operating environment; • An understanding, or can quickly acquire an understanding of the education and training sector, its role in the wider economic and social context.
