Description

The Tax Appeals Commission (TAC) is an independent statutory body under the aegis of the Department of Finance whose main task is hearing, determining and disposing of appeals against assessments and decisions of the Revenue Commissioners concerning taxes and duties, in accordance with relevant legislation. The Chairperson will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the Commission and the efficient execution of the functions of the Commission as provided for by the Finance (Tax Appeals and Prospectus Regulation) Act 2019, which amended the Finance (Tax Appeals) Act 2015. The ideal candidate will have: • Significant senior management experience including leading and managing teams; • The capability of setting the strategic direction and vision for the work of the organisation with significant experience in formulating and implementing organisational strategy and corporate governance systems; • A proven track record of excellent judgement and decision-making; • A strong track record of delivery of results, with a record of proven achievement in his/her career to date to leverage significant change and performance improvement in the organisation; • Excellent internal and external stakeholder engagement, communication, networking and influencing skills demonstrated at a senior level; • Significant senior level experience and competency in the field of taxation, in either the public or private sector, with the ability to analyse and evaluate large amounts of complex legal and technical information.
