Description

The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) is Ireland’s independent energy and water regulator with a wide range of economic, safety and customer protection responsibilities across energy and water. Reporting to a manager, the successful candidate will be involved in a varied role working to tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.  The role would typically include activities such as: • Researching energy policy issues and identification of energy and water market data/trends, using this to suggest policy courses of action for the CRU; • Spreadsheet analysis and arrangement of energy/water data, and financial modelling, for example to analyse price or consumption trends estimate the wholesale price of electricity, in order to inform CRU policy; • Produce and write CRU consultation and decision papers, preparing internal reports and present on energy or water issues internally and externally; • Leading and delivering on projects within the CRU as delegated by the manager; • Monitoring industry with respect to their safety obligations, including conducting safety audits and inspection and following up on enforcement actions; • Dealing with internal and external stakeholders in a positive manner in order to further CRU objectives; • Acting as a key first point of contact point for certain external stakeholders; • Mentoring Graduate Analysts and Analysts within the Commission and conducting knowledge transfer sessions in order to share knowledge, expertise and learnings; • Working as a member of a team, but leading on specific project teams as required; • Engaging with NI, GB or EU counterparts on all-island or EU policy or market developments; • Maintaining an awareness of policy developments and best practice within the energy and water industry and related industries both in Ireland and internationally.
