Senior Design Engineer (Electrical) - Dublin. In this role you will create, modify and analyse the design of equipment, systems or installations, including specifications for manufacturing, fabrication or construction on assignments of medium to high complexity using established solutions. Key Responsibilities and duties: • Act as Lead Designer. • Ensure creation of customised designs with high priority on identification and control of hazards. • Contribute to design reviews and verification following established QA/QC process, provide feedback on design aspects and makes necessary modifications. • Optimise designs to meet updated standards, incorporating new products, components and functionalities. • Create or review engineering drawings, specifications and plans required by manufacturing, fabrication or construction. • Identify and implement variation requests to support contract claims. • Create work plans and cost estimates for work in your area of responsibility, and ensure quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost. • Complete risk and opportunity assessments and the implementation of resulting actions in your area of responsibility. Report any contract/quality/program/cost issues to management, along with recommendations, for resolution. • Interact with customers and provides technical guidance on design related queries. • Collaborate with the supply chain function, review vendor documentation, prepare RFQs, and provide design related evaluation of proposals for non-standard materials and equipment. • Share knowledge and experience across own business unit and beyond. • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of project design assignments. • Create standard processes and tools to promote the reuse of technical solutions. • Coach less experienced designers on the translation of conceptual designs to engineering documentation, including drawings and calculations. May manage a small team of designers on a project. Interested applicants should have: • Detailed knowledge of HV, MV & LV Switchgear. • Full understanding of control & protection schemes for HV & MV switchgear. • Full understanding of electrical schematics. • Full understanding of cable schedules. • Full understanding of IEC & ETCI regulations. • Excellent organisational and co-ordination skills with the ability to prioritise and manage peaks in workload. • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with employees in a professional manner. • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team. • Must hold a minimum of diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering. • Previous experience in a similar role for a minimum of 3 years. • Well-developed interpersonal skills, written and verbal. • Excellent time management and organization skills.
