The Courts Service has excellent opportunities to work with the judiciary as a judicial assistant. The role is a three year contract which involves providing support to judges which can range from administrative, research and attending Court. These roles provide an invaluable insight into the practical workings of the Courts. The key duties of the role are: • The role of a judicial assistant to the Circuit Court is to undertake court duties on behalf of the judge of the Circuit Court to whom they are assigned and assist with research as required. • General administrative support duties. • Drive judge to assigned locations (full clean driver’s license required. • Act as liaison between the judge and Courts Service staff and parties to litigation as required and manage capacity of courtroom ensuring social distancing is in place. • Assistance with the management of the judge’s official documentation (books and papers) required for court and for the preparation of judgements. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Hold (or expect to hold) at least a 2.1 in a law degree at a minimum of level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications in their final year exams. • Have a good understanding of the work of the Irish courts system. • Have a knowledge of modern legal research methods and materials. • Have some experience conducting legal research (this can include academic research or research in the course of court case preparation).
