Description

The Health & Safety Officer will have responsibility for the development of the Health & Safety Programme for the hospital, and ensuring compliance with all Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Legislation. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic Health and Safety professional to join our team. In addition to their standard duties the successful candidate will be tasked with the role of Covid- 19 Response Manager and will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of Covid-19 specific safety management systems as outlined by the National Public Health Emergency Team and the Health & Safety Authority.   The successful candidate will be responsible for:   • Develop, lead, implement, monitor and update the hospital’s Health and Safety Management Programme as necessary. • Identify and implement operational processes to the standards of best practice Safety, Health & Welfare in order to optimise use of resources and to ensure compliance with statutory requirements. • Identify instances of non-compliance with safety provisions and instigate corrective action  • Provide assistance to Department/Service Heads on health and safety best practice, so ensuring the health & safety of employees and the protection of staff/patients/visitors/contractors against accidental injury or loss. • Production of non-clinical reports and audits for the Executive Management Team and Health & Safety Committee. • Co-ordinate departmental procedures to assist in the adoption of safe systems of working and standards   • Review and update of relevant Health & Safety Documentation including the Hospitals Safety Statement. • Carry out regular hazard and departmental audits /inspections across the hospital and review safe work practices. • Ensure that inspection records are maintained and preserved for all activities and plant equipment. • Participation in VHGRMF Health and Safety Advisory Forum and local implementation of guidance documents/recommendations arising from group. • Ensure compliance of all Fire Safety requirements and legislation. • Devise, implement and present safety training programmes for management and staff. • Recording and monitoring of all Medical Device Safety Notices and Hazard Alerts from the HSE and action as applicable to the hospital. • Delivery of HSE processes, procedures, standards and systems.     Please submit a letter of application and CV including details of 3 employment referees to: thowley@ioh.ie or jrafferty@ioh.ie.     Application details/procedure and more information: https://www.ioh.ie/careers/       Closing date: 30/10/2020.       Please note that this advertisement is being hosted by the Public Appointments Service on publicjobs.ie.
