Description

The Department of Justice has overall responsibility for public policy and administration in respect of criminal justice, public safety, civil and family law, national security, immigration and data protection issues. Its vision is for “a safe, fair and inclusive Ireland” achieved through working together to advance community and national security, promote justice and equality and safeguard human rights. The Department employs over 2,700 people directly and has responsibility for the Justice sector, with overall 25,000 staff and a budget of €3 billion.  The Assistant Secretary role is a top tier leadership position in the Department.
