Fingal County Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative candidate to join our Communications Unit as a Senior Communications Officer. The successful candidate will have the ability, drive and vision to relay the broad and varied flow of information about Fingal Council to a wide range of stakeholders including the staff and citizens of Fingal. They will play a key role in implementing our internal and external communications programme.  He/she will be part of the Communications Unit management team and will report to the Media and Communications Manager. The post will be a full-time position at Local Government Grade 6 level. The Communications Unit works with each of the departments within the Council to answer media queries, to publicise events, to make people aware of new policy initiatives and to provide citizens with the information they require to fully avail of the Council’s wide range of services.  The role will involve regular liaison with the 40 elected members of Fingal County Council. The work of the Communications Unit covers eight main areas which are: • Media Relations. • Internal Communications. • External Communications. • Crisis Communications. • Strategic Communications. • Marketing. • Irish Language. • Communications Development. CANDIDATES SHALL ALSO DEMONSTRATE: • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. • Experience of digital communications tools and platforms. • A knowledge and understanding of media. • Ability to deliver day-to-day communications activity using a range of communications tools to a variety of audiences. • Ability to develop and manage relationships with all stakeholders. • Ability to organise and manage events. • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines. • Ability to work outside of normal hours and at weekends as required. • Ability to work within a team as well as managing and supervising the work of others. • Ability to think creatively and deliver engaging content. • Ability to take a strategic approach to their work and the delivery of services. • Ability to identify new opportunities to improve awareness of the Council. • An interest in Local Government and the work of Local Authorities. • A clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality and discretion. • Awareness of the importance of accuracy and attention to detail, For full job description and details on how to apply: Closing date: 25th June 2021 Please note that this advertisement is being hosted by the Public Appointments Service on The Public Appointments Service has no involvement in, or responsibility for, the recruitment and selection process or the terms and conditions which relate to this post.
