Assistant Auditor – Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage The Local Government Audit Service is a unit within the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. It provides an external audit service to local authorities and other local government bodies. The Assistant Auditor is responsible for supporting Principal and Local Government Auditors to carry out the statutory audit of the accounts of local authorities and other local government bodies in accordance with the Code of Local Government Audit Practice. These posts are headquartered in Dublin but Assistant Auditors will be required to travel to audits located away from headquarters and work in the offices of the bodies being audited. The successful candidates will have full membership, or eligibility for full membership, of a prescribed accountancy body supervised by the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority (IAASA.
