Toast is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Reporting & Analytics team in Dublin where we are building the next generation of Reporting & Analytics for our restaurants.  We want to build a one stop shop for restaurants to make it easier, faster, and more enjoyable to manage a successful restaurant. You will enable restaurants to access data, draw meaningful insights, and take data-driven actions by working with the team to develop the best-in-class solution. You will partner with stakeholders, product managers, product designers, product data analysts, and other engineers to deliver functionality and delight. This is a high visibility role with an opportunity to evolve our architecture and make a real impact at a fast-paced and dynamic organization with phenomenal growth. About this roll* (Responsibilities. Be part of a team working collaboratively with UX, PM, QA and other engineers building web applications using modern web technologies and microservices. Define best practices and help choose technologies to evolve our current front-end stack while writing world-class applications. Championing best practices such as quality integration and unit testing. Provide design feedback and participate in code reviews to ensure implementations meet requirements. Ensure that all work done is delivered with quality and is appropriately monitored and supported in production. Mentoring other team members. Do you have the right ingredients? Experience in modern web standards and technologies (e.g. HTML5, React, GraphQL), and can apply them to build fully responsive web pages. Proficient with traditional databases and alternative data stores. Strong experience with Java or another object-oriented language, with a deep understanding of testing, quality & best practices. An interest in functional programming, such as Kotlin, Java 8 Lambdas, Scala etc. Experience supporting and debugging a large multi threaded application. Prior experience making an impact on a previous project, product or within an organization. The capacity to tackle complex and ambiguous problems, communicate clearly with others to solve the problem, and share knowledge to help the whole team succeed. Passionate about building great software. Prior experience with big data, distributed systems, enterprise messaging systems or microservices is a plus. Experience working in a team with Agile/Scrum methodology. Our Tech Stack. Toast’s products run on a stack that ranges from guest and restaurant-facing Android tablets to backend services in Java or Kotlin to internal, guest-facing and restaurant-facing web apps. Toast employs a Micro Frontend architecture using individually deployed single-page applications across our web experience. Toast is building apps on a foundation of React, Apollo (GraphQL) and Tailwind with react-testing-library and Webpack for testing & bundling respectively. Our backend services follow a microservice architecture written using Java 8 and DropWizard; we use AWS extensively, ranging from S3 to RDS to Lambda. We have our own platform for dealing with user management, service elevations and robust load balancing. Toast stores data in a set of sharded Postgres databases and utilizes Apache Spark for large scale data workloads including query and batch processing. *Bread puns encouraged but not required .
