Description

The Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications has responsibility for policy and programmes across a number of areas of national strategic importance, encompassing telecommunications including the National Cyber Security Centre and cyber security policy; energy; climate action; waste management and resource efficiency; environmental policy and air quality; postal; and natural resources.  The National Broadband Plan (NBP) is a major state project aimed at providing high-speed broadband to rural Ireland in areas not served by the commercial sector. Delivery of high capacity and reliable digital connectivity under the NBP is fundamental to maintaining and enhancing competitiveness, as well as achieving sustainable, connected communities across Ireland.  The Senior Telecom Solution Architect will address existing and alternative solution requirements which will involve reviewing and approving of National Broadband Ireland (NBI) wired and wireless technical solutions with significant focus on high quality and cost.  Successful candidates must have: • Significant architectural and design experience (minimum 5 years) of a large scale voice/data network including FTTH technologies  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP for mobile and fixed wireless access networks. • A qualification of at least level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications in Engineering or Telecommunications  Full details of the role, including specific eligibility requirements is available on www.publicjobs.ie.
