The Irish Coast Guard, a Division of the Department of Transport currently has a vacancy for the position of Electronics Officer Grade II. Reporting to an Assistant Director, the Electronics Officer Grade II will take a project lead role in system design, procurement and implementation. Manage a broad range of radio and telecommunications systems and services used in maritime communications, responder alert and notification, vessel tracking technologies and supporting infrastructure. Candidates must: • Hold a qualification at level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications in Physics, Electronic or Telecommunications Engineering; • Have a minimum of 4 years recent professional experience in the field of telecommunication system design and maintenance including experience in the following, Command and Control switch equipment, telecommunications network design, radio transmission technologies, antenna combining systems, Automatic Tuning Units (ATU), wide area alert and notification systems, network topologies, microwave radio, MF antenna systems, synchronised recording and replay systems, Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), battery backup systems; We are committed to a policy of equal opportunity and encourage applications under all nine grounds of the Employment Equality Act. .
