Description

Executive Chairperson Coimisiún na Mean The Online Safety and Media Regulation Bill 2022 will establish a new Regulator, Coimisiún na Meán, to oversee and enforce new and updated regulatory frameworks for audiovisual media services and online safety and to play a key role in the development and funding of the wider media sector. Given the significantly expanded regulatory framework, the Commission will be led initially by four Commissioners, including an Executive Chairperson.  As a regulator with an expansive new remit regarding online safety and media regulation, Coimisiún na Meán will play an important role in the implementation of the Report of the Future of Media Commission and will fulfil the role of national digital services co-ordinator under the forthcoming EU Digital Services Act.   The Executive Chairperson will have responsibility for the general management and control of the Coimisiún na Meán, leading the Commissioners, who will act as a collective decision-making body in respect of key functions of An Coimisiún. The Executive Chairperson will develop and deliver the organisation’s strategic plan, and will be accountable for both financial and operational performance of An Coimisiún.  The Executive Chairperson will oversee the implementation of the organisation’s operational model, including its establishing its structure and developing its staff culture.  The successful candidate should have: a proven track record of experience as a leader and senior manager in a complex organisation, including a track record of project management, budget management, people management and risk assessment; a deep understanding, or the ability to quickly acquire a deep understanding of, key media regulatory issues and of the context in which the Coimisiún na Meán is being established; high-level conceptual and analytical skills including an ability to interpret business performance, project information and financial data; and, a third Level degree and/or a relevant professional qualification.
