Description

The Legal Aid Board is the statutory, independent body responsible for the provision of civil legal aid and advice to persons of modest means, in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Legal Aid Act, 1995. The Act was amended by the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011 which gave the Board the additional responsibility to provide family mediation services.    The Chief Executive is responsible for the overall control and management of the resources and services in accordance with the policy guidelines and general strategy as determined by the Board. The role of the organisation is evolving and requires a leader with a proven capacity to manage change, sustain levels of service and expand as opportunities permit.   The Chief Executive shall demonstrate a strong commitment to public service, to championing fair access to justice for people of limited means and providing leadership and initiative in driving the sector forward.   The successful candidate will have: a) The ability and capacity to assume the level of responsibility required of a Chief Executive, with proven experience of leading and managing significant multidisciplinary professional teams. b) Experience at a senior management level, with a successful track record in promoting customer oriented organisational development and reform. c) The capacity to manage a significant budget, with experience in setting and achieving challenging targets, and measuring and reporting on performance. d) The ability to influence and work constructively with a wide and complex range of stakeholders, and the ability to advocate for fair access to justice for people of limited means. e) A relevant degree level qualification.
