The vision of the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC), as set out in the Statement of Strategy, Le Chéile 23, is for a climate neutral, sustainable and digitally connected Ireland.  The Department’s mission is to collaboratively deliver policies and programmes to empower people, communities, and businesses to continue the transition to a better quality of life for current and future generations.    The telecommunications sector, which is a key focus of activity for the Department, has revenues of €3bn per annum, employs approximately 25,000 people and has invested circa €3.3 billion in the State over the past five years in new and upgraded networks. This level of investment is likely to continue, encouraged by pro-investment regulatory policies.   As set out in the Government national digital strategy – Harnessing Digital - Ireland is coming from a strong overall position, currently ranked the 5th most advanced digital economy in the EU. We are well connected globally, enjoy the presence of many of the leading technology companies and play an important role in digital regulation across Europe. Digital infrastructure underpins the delivery of Ireland’s digital economic and social ambitions.
