Description

Operations Manager. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB. • To develop and to co-ordinate the Operations of all On-site and Transfer station services in the Ireland/UK region in order to ensure a seamless movement of waste from collection points to final outlet. • This includes the servicing of customer needs in accordance with contracts, the processing of waste at collection points, and the final packaging and dispatch of all waste to final outlet in accordance with industry regulations and company procedures. • Ensuring excellent service, quality and optimum cost control will form an integral part of this role. Key duties: On–site services: Working with the Sales Manager(s) the role will be responsible for: • Implementing the requirments of the contract sold to the customer over the life of the contract. • Assisting in the preparation of tenders and costing of on-site services. • Ensuring that key performance indicators are being met. • Look for new opportunities for increased or improved services to customers. Working with the Total Waste Management Manager and Co-ordinators, the role will ensure that: • Sufficient resources are available for the provision of the contracted service. • Sufficient training of staff is provided. • The highest standards of Health and Safety are met. • The tools and consumables required for the smooth operation of the On-site service are available. - The organisation and execution of waste is managed in the most effective manner. Transfer station: Working with the local manager(s) the role will be responsible for the: • Receipt and processing of waste. • The segregation and packaging of waste in accordance with international legislation for shipment to outlets. • The blending and processing of wastes for onward sale. • Manning and operation of the site(s. • Ensuring the H, S & E compliance of the sites. Operational excellence & synergies: • Supporting and developing the local supply chain and operational teams in the different regions to realise their goals. • Providing exceptional know-how and organizing the exchange of know-how and best practices. • Enabling that process flows and instructions regarding supply chain activities are continuously improved and up-to-date to meet the requirements of the business. • Challenging the business by internal and external benchmarking. • Identifying and executing improvements and synergies to increase administrative and operational efficiencies. Leadership: • As member of the Regional Management Team developing and maintaining a broad network across the region through proactive interaction with the local managers. • To identify and build up a strategic network of suppliers. Budget management: • To define and manage department and dedicated investment budgets. • Supporting local managers in the set-up and monitoring of their operational budgets to ensure that annual objectives are achieved. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: • Ideally a Bachelors Degree and/or working towards a Master's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or other related subjects. • Good knowledge of Operations and business economics. • Relevant experience (minimum 10 years) in operations & people management. • Working experience in an international context. Location: The primary base for this role is Dublin city, and the role will have responsibility for several sites across Ireland and UK. If necessary there is flexibility as to where the position can be sited, to include County Meath or County Cork. There will travel to UK once a month and travel within Ireland cirac 2 days a week.
