Our facility in Dun Laoghaire has recently completed a large expansion plan and now produces the majority of pen needles for the diabetes market globally. We are now ramping up to commence producing the newest BD product to support the diabetes market here onsite. With all these exciting developments taking place we are recruiting an Equipment Development Technician (2-year contract). The Equipment Development Technician is responsible for the development of new and improved production equipment along with the upgrade of existing equipment. Key responsibilities will include: ·Provide technical support to the Site Development Function with Introduction of new equipment, materials, products and processes. ·Provide Inputs into Equipment Design reviews, ensuring equipment is optimized for safety, quality, automation, capacity and waste perspectives. ·Optimize current process equipment and processes for safety, quality, capacity and waste. ·Work closely with engineers and cross functional teams in monitoring and improving equipment performance using proven troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques. The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of the Mechanical and Electronic Systems associated with high volume manufacturing equipment and hold a Third Level Qualification in one of those disciplines or the National Craft Certificate together with additional specialised training and experience. Relevant industrial experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment is essential for this role. You must have the ability to apply a scientific approach to problem solving, blending analytical and experimental skills to maximise productivity and yields. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative. You must have relevant PC skills. You will have to liaise with vendors, suppliers and local engineering shops to continuously improve the manufacturing equipment, reducing downtime and waste. This will include vendor site visits, updating documentation and training as required. The successful candidate will develop their knowledge of current plant performance and production equipment. They will develop a good knowledge of all control systems currently in use including PLC’s, motion systems, vision systems, electrical & safety systems and networks.
