Position – Customs & Compliance Team Leader. Transport & Shipping Company. Salary – between €38,000 - €42,000. Post-Brexit, DFDS has successfully expanded its customs team and has set an ambitious target for future growth. To steer that team, we now seek an ambitious person to join as Customs Team Leader, with a specific focus on developing our customs team in Immingham.  In the position of Customs & Compliance Team Leader, you will play a leading role in developing the customs strategic plan and ensuring that DFDS customers are provided with the highest quality of service.  You will work within an operational team and alongside other team leaders, and be responsible for collaborating internally with staff, managers, directly with DFDS customs customers.   You will play a key role in the training of customs staff and the development of internal processes with both digitisation and standardisation in mind.   We expect you to contribute actively to our collaborative culture, where best-practice, knowledge sharing, and idea generation are always encouraged. The Strategic Business Team Lead will have the possibility to make their own mark on DFDS, being a key part of developing strategic customs offering will give you strong opportunities for personal development and the acquisition of new skills.    Our customs offerings span more than 15 DFDS locations, and you will become part of a strong network of customs colleagues with great operational and commercial experience. The position will be based in our Dublin office, and you will report directly to our Contracts & Customs Manager. You can expect to work ~ 39 hours a week with some flexibility based on providing cover operationally. You may be asked to travel to other locations and/ or customer premises.  Main responsibilities of the role: • Responsibility for strategic operations and due diligence of customs related issues. • Safeguarding DFDS Logistics AEO accreditation through compliant submission of declarations in accordance with Revenue. • Compliance monitoring a team ensuring both Irish regulations and internal DFDS policies are followed. • Daily customer interaction ensuring service needs with priority on customer retention. • Accountability for revenue control within the team. • Drive digital development and standardisation within DFDS. • Upselling to current DFDS Customs customers with other DFDS products. • Overall responsibility for the knowledge of the customs department, ensuring training is provided where necessary. • Culpability on timely decision-making. DFDS is looking for an ambitious person who can demonstrate the key qualities needed to lead a small team of customs staff. Knowledge of customs would be an advantage, but it is not a pre-requisite, experience as a leader or supervisor would be preferred; most importantly, the ideal candidate has ambitious drive and a desire to learn and be proactive. The candidate must be a great customer advocate driving the customer’s needs, without losing sight of DFDS needs all under the umbrella of UK Border regulations.  We do not expect you to have a certain education but are open to candidates from all fields. To be able to succeed in this role we believe that the following requirements are crucial for you as a candidate: • Good communication skills in English. • Strategic planned and mapping experience essential  • MBA qualified  • A “can do” attitude and a drive for continuously improving own and, DFDS performance. • Willingness to continually develop. • Ability to work in a strong local team backed by a large and complex international organisation with a large network of diverse colleagues. • Potential experience within staff management and/or Irish Customs regulations. (This is not a prerequisite, but the candidate should have working practice of at least one of these.) • History of financial reporting is considered an advantage. Who We Are….
