The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) is the governing body for association football in the Republic of Ireland. The FAI has primary responsibility for all regulatory aspects of the game of football in the Irish Republic.  The FAI is now seeking to appoint the Chair and an Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) to their Board.  The responsibilities of the FAI Board include:  • Setting the strategic direction of the Association and reviewing progress.  • Overseeing the development, promotion and regulation of football matters.  • Agreeing business plans and major plans of action.  • Monitoring organisational and financial performance.  • Agreeing and overseeing annual budgets.  • Overseeing major capital expenditure and investment decisions.  • Ensuring effective risk management and internal control processes are in place.  • Appointing an effective Board Committee structure to support the Board in its role.  • Ensuring legal, regulatory and governance obligations are adhered to.  In addition to strong leadership ability and vision, INED candidates will share the passion of the Board for the development of Football in Ireland, and will demonstrate significant expertise and experience in at least one of following areas:  • Strong financial expertise and financial governance experience.  • Proven track record of business leadership and organisational transformation.  • Public Affairs in a high profile, public interest organisation.   • Commercial experience, including the use of social media and digital opportunities in a commercial context, as well as a strong understanding of brand and the use of brand.  As well as the INED Candidate attributes above, candidates for the Chair role will also demonstrate:  • Significant main board experience either at executive or non-executive level in a large organisation.  • Experience of dealing with the Irish state and a variety of stakeholders at the highest level.  • Prior experience as a Board Chair desirable.  If you feel you have the experience and drive to apply for either of these roles, please submit a CV and Covering Letter outlining your experience and quoting FAI in the title to applicationsireland@odgersberndtson.com  Closing date for applications is Friday 12th May 2023.  Candidates for these roles will be sourced through both an advertised and an executive search process. .
