Senior Database Engineer. Sanderson have teamed up with a telecommunications giant to recruit a Senior Database Engineer on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, developing and maintain the company's database and will work closely with cross functional teams to ensure that their database systems are reliable, scalable, and secure. Responsibilities: Design, implement and maintain database systems that are reliable, scalable, and secure. Collaborate with cross functional teams to gather requirements and design database solutions that meet the needs of their products and services. Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies. Monitor database performance and identify opportunities for optimisation and improvement. Troubleshoot database issues and provide technical support to resolve problems. Design and implement security measure to protect their databases from unauthorised access and data breaches. Develop and maintain database documentation, including data models, schema diagrams and technical specifications. Requirements: Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL dev, partitioning, migration from SQL Server. Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning, including execution plan and stat analysis. Technical design and implementation of new app features, upgrades, and reworks. Good knowledge of AWS Cloud, specifically Aurora RDS PostgreSQL and Glue. Experience working with DBA team and architects for smooth app update deployment. Troubleshooting and resolving general database issues. Database design and data modelling, with experience in tools like Erwin. Experience in database source control and deployment (Git, Flyway. Testing and validating database components, particularly using PgTap. Experience with monitoring tools, including AWS native and third-party options.
