Data Engineer. Duration - 7 Months (end of 2023. Location - Dublin (50% on site. We have joined up with a leading Insurance company based out of Dublin as they look for someone to take a hands-on position working with offshore engineers to help design, extract and reconciliate data from Oracle using PLSQL as our client replace their legacy policies system. Responsibilities: This will be a hands-on role, leading a small development team responsible for data migration. Develop and maintain a comprehensive data migration strategy and plan for personal lines data. Interpret business requirements and translate into detailed technical specifications. Ensure that all team members have the necessary resources and support to meet project goals. Work closely with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and develop data mapping and transformation rules and tools. Design and implement automated processes for data validation and quality control. Collaborate with software developers to integrate the migrated data into the new data platform and ensure that data is accessible to end-users. Develop and maintain project documentation, including data dictionaries, data mapping documents, and other relevant documents. Monitor project progress and identify and manage risks and issues. Ensure that project deliverables are completed on time and within budget. Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to help them grow professionally and technically. Requirements: Experience in data migration projects, ideally in the Insurance or Financial Services sector. Proficiency in data mapping, transformation, and validation tools and techniques. Ability to analyse legacy platforms and gain an understanding of underlying data structures and processes. Experience in developing and maintaining data dictionaries and data mapping documents. Strong programming skills in languages such as SQL (ideally PL/SQL. Knowledge of database technologies (ideally Oracle. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Experience in leading and managing teams of software engineers and data professionals.
